Now who has seen this movie? If you haven’t, its about time you do! Not to exaggerate but this has gone beyond my usual expectations when it comes to horror films. This would probably top my list of horror films for this year. Again, for this year! I cannot stress out how much I am a die hard fan of Friday the 13th, even the remakes are pretty good! Still, nothing beats the classic. Zilch. Nada.
Anyway. I’d have to give it to the people behind this staggering picture, cos even up to now the scenes are still pretty much right here in my head! I haven’t seen anything as good, or at the least, worthy of attention, ever since the Fifth Element. And that is about 15 years ago!
I had doubts upon seeing this, which means its not a commercially driven film, simply because it doesn’t boast of an all star cast. Chris Hemsworth was probably the only actor I knew in the film, although everyone else looked familiar, like I’ve seen them in a particular sitcom or series.
Kristen Connolly, whois a breathe of fresh air, used to be a low-budget actress, before having been given the lead role of this film. I guess its safe to say Cabin in The Woods is her biggest break in the Hollywood scene. Actually, you can already tell from the beginning who’s playing lead and who’s not. Duh, people. They put blondes in horror films for a reason. I’m not trying to put blondes in a bad light but I guess it has always been that way. Ever since the Omega Man or whatever classic horror film you have in mind, they already have that going for themselves. They get the most sadistic and gruesome way of dying anyway so its a win win situation, only they get to die first. HA!
Anyways. This is different. Good-different, though..Actually, this was a pleasant surprise. Although reviewers have considered this as a horror film, its not just that. Its a sci fi, horror, action, drama, even comedy, wrapped up into one! Trust me, you’ll love this. If you loved the Wrong Turn whatever, and Saw whatever, I guarantee you’ll love this even better!
How about you?
